Over-the-counter product overview: Delsym Adult cough suspension for dry coughs.
This video discusses the over-the-counter drug: Delsym which is a cough suspension for dry coughs. It is available without a prescription in the pharmacy.
This is the adult cough suspension but it can be used in ages 4 and over. (There are child versions that will be discussed at another time). It is available as a 30mg/5ml strength extended-release suspension. This means the drug is slowly released into your system gradually. As it is a suspension, it needs to be shaken well to make sure the right amount of drug is taken.
This medicine is non drowsy.
It is available in grape and orange flavors. Dosage: Ages 12 and over is 10ml (2 teaspoonfuls) every 12 hours Ages 6 to 11 is 5ml (1 teaspoonful) every 12 hours Ages 4 and 5 is 2.5ml (1/2 teaspoonful) every 12 hours.
