Dry skin occurs when the outer layer of the skin does not have or hold enough water.
Some causes of Dry Skin
- Insufficient fluid intake
- Thinning of the top layer of the skin
- Smoking
- Malnutrition
- Over use of soap
Some symptoms of Dry Skin
- Itching
- Flaking skin
- Cracked skin
Common treatments of Dry Skin
- Drink at least 8 cups of water
- Use a good moisturizer
- Have a bath/wash with a gentle cleanser, bath oil or oatmeal bath
- Hydrocortisone may be used for itching but must not be used for more than 1 week
